I can't imagine having a childhood without seeing this movie. I neither remember when I first saw it nor how many times I have seen it. But it's one of my favourite films and I kwon the script nearly by heart. As the grandfather says, the story of The Princess Bride has a wonderful beginning, especially because of the soundtrack. I think Mark Knopfler did a very good job. I love the way the story goes on: Buttercup's kidnapping, Fezzik's rhymes, The Cliffs of Insanity, Westley's fights against the 'villains' the fire swamp (I'm not saying I'd like to build a summer home here but the trees are actually quite lovely. The Princess Bride has adventure, love, passion, humour, rhymes. it's the perfect story to escape from reality. I read the book a couple of months ago, and it really disappointed me, the author's lucubration is lengthy and boring, but I have to admit the beginning is fantastic: This is my favourite book, although I have never read it. Just wonderful.
